China Will Invest RMB 4.7 Trillion in Building up Road Network in The Period up to 2030

Dai Dongchang, chief planner at China's Ministry of Transport, has stated that China will invest around RMB 4.7 trillion ($766.72 billion) in building up its national road network in the period up to 2030, in order to ease pressure from increased traffic and to boost economic growth.

Accordingly, by 2030 the total length of ordinary national roads in China will reach 265,000 km, while the total length of national high-speed highways will amount to 118,000 km.

As of the end of 2012, the length of the overall national road network in China amounted to 173,000 km, including 105,000 km of ordinary national roads and 68,000 km of national high-speed highways.
