The turnover of Italian womenswear industry incurred a decline of 0.9 percent year-on-year to €12.18 billion during 2013, as per the data released by Sistema Moda Italia (SMI), the Italian Fashion System and association of textile entrepreneurs.
According to the Industry of Italian Fashion Women 2013-2014 report of SMI, in 2013, the country’s womenswear turnover reached €12.18 billion, whereas in 2012, the turnover of the Italian womenswear industry touched €12.29 billion.
In terms of value of production, the womenswear sector registered a growth of 0.5 percent to €7.88 billion in 2013, compared to the €7.84 billion registered in 2012.
Meanwhile, Italian womenswear exports during last year reached €7.06 billion, indicating a rise of 3.5 percent, compared to the €6.82 billion womenswear exported in 2012, as per the SMI data.
In terms of imports, the country bought womenswear worth €3.65 billion during 2013, indicating a decline of 3.7 percent, compared to the €3.79 billion womenswear imported in 2012.
