British sports carmaker Lotus Cars has begun the production of the new Exige S sports car at its Hethel plant in the UK.
The new sports car is powered by 3.5-litre V-6 engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which will produce an output of 345hp at 7,000rpm and 295lb-ft of torque.
Lotus said that the sports car will sprint from 0-60mph in 3.8-seconds while offering a top speed of 170mph.
The Exige S sports car will go on sale in the UK and Europe at a price of EUR80,000, while the new car is also expected to be launched in the US where it will be on sale as a track-only models.
The new sports car was debuted at the 2012 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.
