Germany-based B. Braun Medical has chosen Polyfoil tubes for Prontosan Wound Gel X in 250g tubes, which were initially available only in 30g plastic ampoules, to extend the range of commercially available Prontosan products with a sterile, highly viscous gel.
Neopac and the B. Braun team worked together and after conducting few tests on various tube materials, developed an optimal packaging solution which resulted in a polypropylene Polyfoil tube which was packaging for the product as the material can withstand exposure to an extreme temperature of 125°C.
B. Braun Medical packaging technology head Ruedi Hofstetter said the requirements for the class III medical device are stringently regulated by the Swiss decree governing Medical Devices.
"Neopac not only supported us in drafting the registration documentation but also met our flexible delivery dates," Hofstetter said.
Neopac produces its pharmaceutical tubes in fully certified clean rooms and monitors for particles and microbes hence B. Braun chose Neopac as a partner for this project and got the latter well and truly on board.
B. Braun Medical, Switzerland, is a subsidiary of the German company, B. Braun, which manufacturers and suppliers of medical devices.
