Once again the Lenzing Group was honored for its sustainability efforts. At the Energy Globe Award Upper Austria 2012, Lenzing placed second in the category "Earth". This category distinguishes a prudent and sustainable approach to dealing with our planet and its resources as well as all related measures.
"The optimization of our ecological footprint is an important aspect of our corporate philosophy. Lenzing fibers not only set standards in the industry when it comes to wearing comfort but also from an ecological point of view. I am particularly gratified that our long-term commitment to sustainability has been honored with the Energy Globe Award", says Lenzing CEO Peter Untersperger.
The Lenzing Group convinced the jury on the basis of its project "Lenzing Modal® Edelweiss". This fiber is produced at the Lenzing site from the renewable raw material beech wood within the context of an integrated process. As a result, Lenzing Modal® Edelweiss fulfills the highest environmental standards, and offers considerable ecological advantages compared to other textile fibers such as cotton and polyester.
The Energy Globe Award is a renowned environmental prize. Its objective is to present innovative and sustainable projects to the general public and award prizes to these initiatives.
