The first renderings of the W Motors SuperSport have been released along with performance data promising more than 745kW and a sub-1200kg kerb weight.
W Motors CEO Ralph Debbas says the forthcoming SuperSport will be less exclusive but offer superior performance to the Dubai-based car maker’s first and only model, the Lykan HyperSport, which produces 559kW/960Nm from its twin-turbo 3.7-litre flat six engine, accelerates from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 385km/h.
“The HyperSport is an incredible car to drive, but the SuperSport – coming next year – will be an even better performance car,” Debbas told Emirati newspaper The National.
“It [the SuperSport] is less exclusive, and doesn’t have the gold stitching, the diamonds, and holographic display [of the HyperSport]… It is mainly about power and performance. It is going to be above 1000hp (745kW) … and under 1200kg.”
The W Motors SuperSport’s front end features angular air intakes, large bonnet openings,a carbonfibre lower spoiler and LED accents. A rakish profile with an exposed carbonfibre roof leads to an aggressive-looking rear end dominated by amassive rear diffuser containing four oversized tailpipes.
W Motors’ website describes the brand as a purveyor of hypercars, a class of car it says is defined by three things: its engine, which W Motors says is worth 50 per cent of the total vehicle price; its styling; and the car’s exclusivity.
W Motors plans to produce just 25 SuperSports, with prices expected to exceed US$3.4 million ($3.65 million).
