According to data released by the Mexican steel chamber (Canacero), Mexico’s steel exports totaled 2.42 million tons in the first five months of this year, rising by 13% year on year.
Besides, the country’s steel imports declined in the given period of time. The steel imports accounted for 38.9% of the country’s total consumption against 42.2% in the period of 2012.
Meanwhile, Canacero indicated that the cumulative trade deficit of steel at the end of May reached 1.14 million tons and US$1.89 billion.
