Factor Bioscience Has Received The First Patent for The Reprogramming Cells Using RNA

Life science company Factor Bioscience has received the first patent for the reprogramming cells using RNA from the US Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), which is widely used in biological research and personalized medicine.

Factor Bioscience co-inventor and CEO Dr Matt Angel said, "The grant of the first patent covering reliable DNA-free reprogramming technology brings us one step closer to the development of therapeutics based on safely reprogrammed cells."

The patented methods, which are free from cumbersome protocols, shoddy reliability, and inefficiency, can transform patient skin cells into stem cells more rapidly, efficiently, and safely than previous techniques.

High-Throughput Technologies chief operating officer and director Dr Christopher Rohde said, "Our RNA-reprogramming technology overcomes all of these limitations while being faster and safer than the best available techniques."

Suitable for use in an array of reprogramming factors and cell types, the methods developed by Dr Angel's team can be used through a combination of products.
