While the global average retail price for LED light bulbs equivalent to 40W incandescent bulbs in November dropped on month by 2.7% to US$15.4, the corresponding average retail price in the China market fell by as much as 20.6% due to vendors' price cuts to promote sale, according to LEDinside under Taiwan-based TrendForce.
In the China market, for example, retail prices for Osram 8W LED light bulbs with luminous flux of 470 lumens slipped from nearly US$20 in October to about US$8 in November and that for 9.5W models of 810-lumen luminous influx from about US$14 to US$7, LEDinside indicated.
Global sales volume of LED light bulbs in 2014 will rise by 86% on year, LEDinside pointed out.
