It is reported from South African City News that FAW Group truck assembly plant in Coega Industrial Park in East Cape Town started to run recently, and its total investment amounted to about 348 million RMB.
South Africa government declared the opening of the plant and the president Zumba welcomed opening of the plant. The plant is jointly invested by FAW Group and Central Africa Development Fund and it is one of the biggest investments of China in South Africa and the plant will absorb more investments and create more jobs.
According to previous reports, investment of FAW in South Africa is for promoting their sales goals for 150,000 exports by 2015.
FAW Group is exploring their overseas business in recent years. And they built their first plant in Ethiopia in 2011, and they assembled Chassis small vehicles with CKD, and they have signed contract with Russian dealer Queen Group in early 2012 to deliver 33,000 vehicles to Russia in three years.
