Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 31.81 million mt in December last year, increasing by 2.91 percent compared to November and down 1.39 percent compared to the same month of 2012, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in December totaled $3.20 billion, rising by 6.52 percent compared to the previous month and up 14 percent year on year.
In December, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 376,600 mt, decreasing 13.15 percent compared to the previous month and down 19.65 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $195.2 million, decreasing 11.15 percent compared to November and down 18.19 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in December Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 127,500 metric tons, increasing 66.45 percent from November and down 33.88 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $106.2 million, rising by 59.19 percent month on month and down 29.38 percent from the December 2012 level.
