The In-Mold Decorating Association Announced The Winners of Its Sixth Annual Awards

The In-Mold Decorating Association announced the winners of its sixth annual awards competition, which recognizes the industry’s best in-mold labeled packaging and in-mold decorated durable products. A panel of judges evaluated 19 entries from 15 companies worldwide. The following winners of the 2012 IMDA Award Competition were honored for their creativity in design, engineering and innovation: Best IMD Durable Product was awarded to the hot tub control panel, submitted by the molder, Distinctive Plastics of Vista, Calif. Caldera Spas hot tubs feature the panel. The brand owner is Hot Springs Spas. Best Part Design went to the Redbox DVD case, submitted by supplier CBW Automation and molded by Deforest, Wisc.-based Evco Plastics. The brand owner is Redbox Automated Retail LLC. Best Injection Molded Part went to Speaker Grill, submitted by Craft Originators Inc. and molded by TASUS Corp., based in Bloomington, Ind. Both companies are subsidiaries of Japan’s Tsuchiya Co. Ltd. Brand owners are Beats by Dre and Chrysler Group LLC — the speakers are featured in Chrysler 300S models with Beats by Dre audio systems. The Redbox DVD case won Best Part Design Two Injection Molded Part entries earned honorable mentions: A cell phone case, submitted jointly by molder Rolco Inc. of Kasota, Minn., and brand owner OtterBox Products LLC, and the automobile door trim panel, submitted by molder Eimo Technologies Inc. of Vicksburg, Mich., a subsidiary of Nissha USA. The brand owner is Chrysler. Best Label Design went to Gain liquid detergent, submitted by Multi-Color Corp. and molded by Plymouth, Mich.-based Plastipak Holdings Inc. The brand owner is Proctor & Gamble. Best Product Family was awarded to Avengers movie theme cups and buckets, submitted by molder and brand owner Srithai Superware Public Co. Ltd. of Bangkok, Thailand. Best Thin Wall Packaging went to 2.25-liter Superwall pail, submitted by Polipa Plastik Packaging Co. of Istanbul, Turkey.
