The automotive sales in the US have severely declined over the past decade, according to a new report.
According to Research and Markets' 'Automotive Report United States 2nd Quarter', the total registrations of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the US accounted to 12.7million units in 2011, reporting a decline from 17.3 million units in 2000.
The US Department of Labour's Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS) revealed that the direct employment in the motor vehicle and motor vehicle equipment industry accounted to 724,100 in 2011.
During 2011, the US had manufactured 8.6 million vehicles, which reported a rise from 7.7 million manufactured in 2010, but a decline from 11.7 million vehicles produced in 2006.
US is currently the world's third-biggest producer of passenger vehicles after China and Japan.
