Cloud-Based Platform Will Be Launched to Track Food Supply by Fujitsu

Japanese technology firm Fujitsu is set to launch a new cloud-based platform, which can help farmers to keep track of crop yields and growth data, and make informed decisions.

The new service known as'Akisai',uses a network and sensors in the fields to monitor factors such as soil temperature, moisture, and rainfall.Farmers can input this data in their mobile phones or tablets and receive information such as profitability per crop and expenses.

Larger agricultural firm companies will be able to track the crops at different locations, and make purchasing decisions accordingly.

Akisai will combine the latest and historical data to monitor crop yields, helping farmers to make informed decisions.

Fujitsu plans to market the service to larger firms such as wholesalers, food processors and restaurant chains.By March 2016,the company aims to enrol 200,000 customers and generate sales of$190m.

According to the company,it spent three years to study Japanese farming methods and markets using cloud computing, before launching the new platform.
