Dominican steelmakers Industrias Nacionales (Inca) and Metaldom completed their merger, the companies said Wednesday, and will now be known as Gerdau Metaldom.
According to Gerdau, which controls 79.97 percent of Inca, "the first Dominican multinational in the steel sector aims to stand as leader not only in the domestic market, but also in all Central America, Caribbean region.”
Metaldom is a major steel producer in the Central American and Caribbean regions, producing finished and long steels, as well as other products.
Inca is Dominican Republic’s largest producer of civil construction material. About 56 percent of the material that is sold within the domestic market comes from Inca, reports said.
