In December 2012, the turnover in France's manufacturing industry increased by 2.2 percent month on month, following a month-on-month fall recorded in November, according to France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). Exports of France's manufacturing sector increased by three percent month on month in December, after the 4.5 percent decrease registered in November compared to October.
In 2012, the turnover in the French manufacturing industry decreased by 0.9 percent, while it fell 5.9 percent in the manufacture of transport equipment, both year-on-year.
In December last year, turnover in French manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products fell by 4.1 percent, while the turnover in French metal and metal product manufacturing increased by 3.3 percent, both compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, a 7.2 percent month-on-month increase was recorded in the turnover in the automobile industry. However, the turnover in the country's manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers rose 0.3 percent month on month. In December, the turnover in the French construction industry decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month.
In the fourth quarter of 2012, the turnover in French metal and metal product manufacturing decreased by 2.1 percent compared to the previous quarter. In the given quarter, the turnover in the country's manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers rose 0.8 percent, while a 6.1 percent decrease was recorded in the turnover in the automobile industry, both quarter on quarter. In the fourth quarter of last year, the turnover in the French construction industry decreased by 0.7 percent compared to the previous quarter.
