The Spanish wood-based panels producer Financiera Maderera (Finsa) is posed to permanently close a particleboard mill run by its Basque subsidiary Inama at the end of 2011. Several Spanish daily newspapers reported that the company had announced this decision on 17 October, blaming the closure mainly on a drop in sales caused by the economic slowdown as well as permit problems. The newspaper El Correo stated that the firm would also have to repay millions of euro in subsidies. The Basque Environment Ministry took away the Autorización Ambiental Integrada (AAI) environment permit for the Inama particleboard mill last December. Source: euwid-wood-products.com
