Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies has introduced a new natural gas storage technology, Q-Lite series, which supports the commercialisation of natural gas powered internal combustion engine vehicles.
Leveraging Quantum's technology expertise in high pressure hydrogen storage, the new Q-Lite series of fuel systems are expected to maximise vehicle range by dematerialisation and application of new generation materials.
Quantum's Q-Lite technology includes a lightweight liner system that is claimed to maximise storage capacity and also features new generation shock absorbers.
It also includes an optimised corrosion and fatigue-resistant structural shell taht incorporates high strength lightweight aluminum fittings.
Additionally, the advanced composite natural gas storage cylinder is also claimed to reduce weight, increase fuel storage capacity and the capability to integrate on vehicles with lightweight brackets, reducing overall fuel system weight.
Quantum CEO and president Brian Olson said:"The Q-Lite technology is the first in a planned series of advanced fuel system technologies enabling broader scale adoption through lighter weight and more robust storage systems."
