Global demand for thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) is forecast to rise 6.3% per year to 5.6m tonnes in 2015, according to a new report from Freedonia. The global market will benefit from the rising use of TPEs in developing countries, as well as the ongoing push to reduce motor vehicle weight, says the report. Asia Pacific will show the greatest growth over the 2010-15 period (6.8%), with the China market increasing 8%. North America and western Europe are predicted to increase 6.3% and 4.5%, respectively. By 2015, China will be the biggest market, totalling 1.5m tonnes, followed by North America at 1.3m tonnes. Source: europeanplasticsnews.com
