Turkish Construction Turnover Index Rises by 11.5% in The First Quarter

On April 5, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUK) released the domestic construction sector indicators for the fourth quarter of 2012.

Accordingly, in the quarter in question, the production index in Turkey's domestic construction sector increased by 0.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the production index in domestic building construction fell from 117.1 to 116.9, decreasing by 0.1 percent, while the production index in civil engineering rose from 159.7 to 164.9, increasing by 3.3 percent, all compared to the fourth quarter of 2011.

Moreover, the turnover index in the domestic construction sector in the fourth quarter of 2012, with the base year 2005 = 100 and calculated according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, Rev. 2 (NACE Rev.2), increased by 11.5 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, mainly driven by the 15.1 percent increase in the turnover index in building construction.
