Details of the new additions to Porsche Australia’s showroom in 2014.
Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet (April)
The Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S cabriolet models will arrive in April, joining their hardtop counterparts that launched in December. The 991-series range boasts improved performance compared with its predecessor, as well as a price increase of around $20K across both variants. The $388,800 Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet commands a $29,000 premium over its coupe sibling. It employs the same 383kW/660Nm 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds. The 911 Turbo S cabriolet costs a more substantial $463,100 ($21,800 more than its hardtop equivalent), produces 412kW/700Nm from its uprated version of the same engine, and completes the 0-100km/h dash in 3.2sec
Porsche Macan (June)
Porsche will introduce its highly anticipated and hugely important fifth model line – the mid-sized Macan SUV – to Australia in June. Longer, lower and wider than the Audi Q5 on which it’s based, the Macan will initially be offered in three specification levels that make it the only model Porsche sells locally with a five-figure price tag: the $84,900 S Diesel, the $87,200 S and the $122,900 Turbo. At a claimed 6.1L/100km, the 3.0-litre V6 diesel boasts the efficiency of a small petrol-powered hatchback, despite producing 190kW and 580Nm. The 294kW/550Nm twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 Turbo is the performance hero, racing from 0-100km/h in a 911-beating 4.6 seconds. All engines are teamed with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddleshifters, with power sent to all four wheels. A high-performance audio system and electrically operated tailgate are standard across the range. Options include air suspension and Porsche’s Torque Vectoring Plus system, which distributes power between the rear wheels to help push the Macan around corners.
Porsche Cayenne facelift
The facelifted Porsche Cayenne will be revealed in 2014 before going on sale in 2015. The SUV is expected to adopt many of the changes seen on the facelifted Panamera, including new headlights and taillights, and refreshed LED daytime running light designs. High-performance six-cylinder engines are set to overhaul the current model’s V8-focused line-up, following the lead of the revised Panamera range. The 4.8-litre V8-powered Cayenne GTS will remain, however, maintaining its flagship sporting status. Another possibility is the introduction of the Panamera S E-Hybrid’s 306kW petrol-electric powertrain to the Cayenne range.
