Anchor Packaging, in partnership with Metaphase, has launched Safe Pinch, a new line of tamper-evident food containers to meet the growing demand for to-go packaging.
Jointly developed over a 2-year period, the Safe Pinch packaging is virtually leak-proof and eliminates the sharp edges associated with many tamper-evident containers.
Metaphase coordinated consumer feedback and design sessions for the development of the tamper-evident packaging.
Anchor Packaging president Jeffrey Wolff said: "Through these sessions conducted by Metaphase, we found that consumers overwhelmingly prefer a simple, intuitive, one-step opening design and with our aging population, large, easy-grip tab features were deemed essential.
"These two design elements are at the heart of the Safe Pinch product line."
With easy to open, and easy to reclose features, the Safe Pinch allows identification of tampered product due to its visible, wide separation of the opened hinge.
Designed for ambient-temperature displays of assorted dry foods including nuts, snack mixes, candy, baked goods and dried fruit, the container can also be used for refrigerated fresh food applications, such as salads, cut fruit and sandwiches.
Made with US Food and Drug Administration approved, post-consumer recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PETE), the packages are reusable and recyclable curbside and are available as part an extensive line of grab 'n go packaging.
The firm plans to offer the containers in new shapes and sizes including 7"x6" in 20, 24, and 32-ounce sizes.
