DJO Surgical, a DJO Global company, has reported the first surgical use of its patient-specific shoulder instrumentation, Match Point System, in Reverse shoulder system cases in Australia and Florida.
Developed in collaboration with Materialise, the Match Point System is the latest addition to DJO Surgical's Shoulder Solutions.
The Match Point System has been developed to provide advanced pre-operative surgical planning and patient-customized drill guides to accommodate a reverse or total shoulder arthroplasty procedure.
Using Materialise's software component SurgiCase Connect, the Match Point System generates a CT-based preoperative case plans for surgeons to template and prepare for their reverse shoulder arthroplasty surgeries using the DJO Surgical Reverse or Turon shoulder systems.
DJO Surgical senior vice president and general manager Bryan Monroe noted with the increased patient demand for total and reverse shoulder replacements, surgeons are demanding more in terms of improved instrumentation, planning tools, and techniques for their shoulder cases.
"The Match Point System is well-suited to address these needs. Our strategic partnership with Materialise has been great; together, we are helping the surgeon to facilitate each patient's return to normal activity," Monroe added.
The Match Point System has already obtained CE Mark in Europe and 510(k) approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.
