iOS 10.1.1 Update Brings New Battery Drain Row

Apple launched the latest version of its mobile OS, iOS 10, in September, and for the most part it was a welcome update.

Now, however, following the recent update to version 10.1.1, some users are reporting problems with their iPhones' batteries.

Apple support forums are now home to numerous reports of battery problems, with the main complaint concerning iPhones jumping from 30% charge to 1% and shutting down.

Specifically, as reported by Forbes, users are seeing their phones reach 30% charge then jumping to 1% and resetting. Once being plugged back in, the battery percentage indicator shows 30%, and the handsets will last a good few hours.

What's more, the update seems to have caused further issues with the battery percentage indicator, with poster Mjolcresure writing: "Shutting the phone down at night with a good 80% charge, it won’t reboot in the morning due to no battery charge. I plug it in and its back to 30% in a few seconds."

Other users have reported similar issues, with stefan_boe writing: "I am having the same issue on my iPhone 6. Battery dies while showing 30 to 50% charge left. The last couple of days it died at 30% yesterday at 50%. The problem started with the latest iOS 10.1.1."

At this point, it doesn't look like upgrading to the latest beta version of iOS, version 10.2, fixes the issue either, with some users reporting they have experienced similar issues since version 10.1.
