The World Floor Covering Association's (WFCA) third week-long CFI-led installation training workshop will take place in Wichita, Kan., beginning on March 18. WFCA Gold Standard Award winner, Star Flooring, will host the event.
“Through these workshops the WFCA is making an impact in installation training,” Tom Jennings, vice president of member services, WFCA, commented. “I have trained at each event to date with the CFI instructors and I have seen firsthand the commitment and the willingness to learn from the installers taking the courses. This is a worthwhile effort in which every dealer and flooring installer should be participating.”
Installation training and certification in carpet and resilient will be conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday that week. On those same days, carpet inspection and the Installation Knowledge Workshop will also take place. Ceramic and laminate/wood will take place on Thursday and Friday.
Additional upcoming 2014 installation workshops include:
April 8-11 Doraville, Ga.
May 13-16 Seattle, Wash. Hosted by the Northwest Flooring Association at Great Floors
June 3-6 Pomona, Calif. Hosted by Traxx Corporation
“Our first two workshops in Chicago and Baltimore were very well received,” said Jim Walker, CEO of the International Certified Flooring Installers Association (CFI.) “Dealers know that when the installers’ skills and knowledge are up-to-date, it creates a ‘win-win’ situation for everyone. Everything changes - tools, installation methods; supplies and flooring - and the methods that were used just last year may be outdated. It is important to be aware of changes in the industry and the WFCA-sponsored workshops are providing this opportunity.”
WFCA members receive a $200 discount for each installer that participates. In addition, if funds are available and requested at least 30 days prior to the event, WFCA will pay 50% of the registration fee up to $500.
