A Maryland Mattress Renovator Has Recalled About 1,000 Mattresses and Foundations

A Maryland mattress renovator has recalled about 1,000 mattresses and foundations that violate federal mattress flammability standards, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The federal agency said the mattresses were rebuilt by L&F International Trade and sold in several Washington, D.C., and Maryland furniture stores between November 2011 and July 2012. Consumers should stop using them and contact the company to arrange free delivery of a rebuilt mattress and foundation that complies with the flammability standards, the CPSC said.

Consumers can reach the company at [email protected] or at (301) 595-1062 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

The CPSC said the mattresses were stripped to the springs and rebuilt by L&F International. They have an ivory knit fabric cover with a botanical pattern, and include a yellow tag that reads "L&F International Trade Inc., 10726A Tucker St., Beltsville, MD 20705."

According to the agency, the recalled mattresses were sold by Best Buy Furniture, Takoma Park, Md.; Capital Discount and Easy Buy Furniture in Washington; Carolina Furniture, Hyattsville, Md., and Value Furniture, Bladensburg, Md.
