Taiwan-based polycrystalline silicon solar cell makers, viewing that China-based PV module makers have drastically reduced orders arising from US imposition of preliminary anti-subsidization tariffs on PV modules imported from China, have decreased quotes from US$0.41-0.43/W in May to US$0.40/W currently, according to industry sources.
In the meantime, Europe-based clients and importers in other markets have negotiated price cuts with Taiwan solar cell makers whose quotes are still higher than China-based fellow makers', the sources said. However, these Taiwan makers generally want to maintain a minimum price level of US$0.38/W to avoid losses, the sources indicated.
