The Distribution Network's Sales Contributed to Total Sales Volumes

Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that the distribution network of its Russian Steel division c its sales to 858,000 mt in the first nine months of the current year.

The distribution network's sales for the first nine months of 2013 contributed to 11 percent of Severstal Russian Steel division's total sales volumes. The network's principal markets are Russia's major steel consuming regions, i.e., the central and northwestern regions, the Volga and Black Earth (Chernozem) regions, northern and eastern European countries, Ukraine and Belarus.

The network's sales to Russia exceeded 470,000 mt in the first nine months.

In January-September this year, the distribution network increased deliveries to the EU by 19 percent compared to the same period of 2012, with volumes totaling 272,000 mt, despite difficult market conditions in northern and eastern Europe and a slowdown in a number of EU countries including Poland, Finland and Estonia. Network sales to the Baltic states in January-September this year rose by 17 percent year on year to 115,000 mt. Deliveries to western Europe and Germany totaled 125,000 mt, up 17 percent year on year. Sales volumes in Scandinavia increased by 34 percent year on year to 32,000 mt following the opening of a trade office in Finland.

Over the nine month period, the distribution network sold more than 115,000 mt of steel products to Ukraine and Belarus, up 150 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
