Taiwan-Based Solar Firms Have Been Reporting Declining October Revenues

Taiwan-based solar firms have been reporting declining October revenues with Gintech and Solartech outperforming peers with on-month decreases of less than 10%. Motech reported October revenues of business in Taiwan alone of NT$1.311 billion (US$44 million), a 22.10% on-month decrease and 57.11% on-year decrease. Motech's consolidated revenues in Greater China region were NT$1.783 billion in October. E-Ton Solar continues to see falling revenues. E-Ton Solar reported October revenues of NT$129 million, a 63.22% decrease on month and 79.75% decrease on year, the largest fall among solar firms. Conductive paste maker Giga Solar reported October revenues of NT$186 million, representing a 33.81% fall on month and 35.98% decrease on year. Giga Solar indicated the falling revenues were due to decreased capacity utilization at solar cell makers. Solar wafer firms such as Sino-American Silicon (SAS) and Green Energy Technology (GET) both reported October revenues down 20% on month. Solar wafer makers have been sandwiched between slowly decreasing material costs and a rapid downfall in product prices. Source: www.digitimes.com
