SORL Auto Parts,a manufacturer and distributor of commercial vehicle air brake systems,has launched new electric air brake compressors to be used in electric buses featuring air brake system.
Unlike the traditional vehicles which use air brake compressors and powered by an internal combustion engine,SORL's new electric air brake compressors are powered by an electric motor.
The electric air brake compressors extends the life span and enhance fuel conservation as well as reduce pollution.
According to the manufacturer,the new compressors have finished all quality and performance tests and currently major electric bus manufacturers are assessing the product.
SORL's launch of the new compressors is in line with the State Council of China's"energy-saving and new energy automotive industry development plan(2012-2020)"to make pure electric drive as main strategic direction of new energy vehicles.
According to the plan,the collective production and sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles will reach 500,000 units by 2015.
The plan also reveals that the production capacity of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles is expected to reach 2 million units by 2020 while the collective production and sales are estimated to surpass 5 million units by the period.
