Thai Textile Society Offers a "Special Visit" to The Kanchanaphisek Storage Facilities

The Thai Textile Society offers a “special visit” to The Kanchanaphisek (King’s Golden Jubilee) Storage Facilities in Pathum Thani, Friday, 30 May 2014. 

John Toomey, member of the Thai Textile Society and editor of the TTS Newsletter, will lead participants to these storage facilities housing artifacts from the 44 Thai National Museums. 

The tour will visit the textile collection which includes Buddhist banners, Burmese Kalagas, mosquito net borders, Thai ethnic textiles, and military uniforms.

Highlights are tube skirts from the Tai-Krang ethnic group in Uthai Thani province and tin-chok of tube skirts of the Tai-Yuan from Mae-Chaem.  In addition there will be a visit to the ceramics, woodcarving, and basketry collections and more, time permitting.
