Children's Book Publisher Ladybird Books Is to Drop Gender Specific Titles

"Out of literally hundreds of titles currently in print, we actually only have six titles with this kind of titling."

Children's book publisher Ladybird Books is to drop gender specific titles.

The move is the latest success for Let Toys Be Toys' Let Books Be Books campaign, asking children's publishers to drop gender labelling.

"At Ladybird we certainly don’t want to be seen to be limiting children in any way," read a statement from the firm.

"Out of literally hundreds of titles currently in print, we actually only have six titles with this kind of titling."

Ladybird claimed it will be removing any gender labelling in reprinted copies in the future.

This follows a similar move made by Chad Valley earlier this month to drop its line of gendered children's books as of January 2015.
