Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced its operational results for the second quarter of the current year. Accordingly, Severstal's crude steel output increased by five percent quarter on quarter to 4.031 million mt in the second quarter, while its hot metal production went up by two percent quarter on quarter to 2.693 million mt in the same period.
In the second quarter of the current year, Severstal's Russian Steel division reported a four percent increase in steel product sales, with Severstal North America posting a five percent rise, both compared to the previous quarter. During the second quarter, the mining division of the company, Severstal Resources, saw its iron ore sales volume increase by 11 percent quarter on quarter to 3.898 million mt.
As regards consolidated sales (net of intercompany sales), Severstal stated that in the second quarter its coal sales decreased by 16 percent to 1.545 million mt, its iron ore sales increased by 13 percent to 1.598 million mt, and its rolled steel product sales increased by five percent to 3.273 million mt, all compared to the previous quarter.
