US-based Cheryl’s has announced recall of 10,588 individually wrapped 1.6oz Buttercream Frosted Cinnamon Pumpkin Cookies over labeling issues.
This recall was initiated after it was found that the affected cookies were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the allergen.
Investigation revealed that some of the packages of the company's Buttercream Frosted Cinnamon Pumpkin Cookies actually contained Fudge Buttercream Frosted Peanut Butter Cookie.
If the affected products are consumed by people with allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts, they run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.
Sold at Cheryl's retail stores in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio and nationwide during April and May 2013, the cookies contain Lot No: 88 13 1 on the packaging wrapper.
