Gerber Technology Sponsors Dutch Fashion Awards

Gerber Technology, a world leader in automated CAD/CAM and PLM solutions for the apparel and flexible materials industry, supported up-and-coming Dutch fashion talent through its sponsorship of the Dutch Fashion Awards 2012 and Fashion Incubator Award, annual awards organized by the Dutch Fashion Foundation (DFF).

In addition to monetary contributions, Gerber provided a copy of its AccuMark pattern design and marker making software to the winner of the International Fashion Incubator Award along with system training. "This is a great opportunity for the winner to help advance his career," said Angelique Westerhof, DFA founder and director.

AccuMark software is currently used by more than 13,000 users worldwide in the fashion business only, with more than 41,000 seats installed. Gerber Technology's AccuMark family of software solutions has become the benchmark for computer-aided pattern design, grading and marker making.

"As a leading solutions provider and established technology brand with more than 40 years of industry experience, Gerber has the responsibility to help educate fashion's rising stars in the latest software," said Donny Askin, senior vice president and general manager of Gerber's Yunique Solutions business unit.

"These ‘Oscars for Dutch Fashion' are a celebration not only of the local Dutch fashion industry but also of the larger international fashion community. Gerber Technology is pleased to be an integral part of this."

Mattijs van Bergen is the grand winner of the Dutch Fashion Awards 2012. Not only did he win the much- desired Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award, but also the International Fashion Incubator Award and, hence, the AccuMark pattern design system.

Anne de Grijff was awarded the Dutch Touch Paris Award, Elsien Gringhuis received the Fair Luxury Award and Hyun Yue won the Dutch Fashion Incubator Award for the second time in a row.

The theme behind the Dutch Fashion Awards 2012 was Renewal -- a theme that links the ambition of all sponsors to the award and its glamorous celebration event held at the Grote Kerk of venue of the Dutch capital on Nov. 30.

Other sponsors included Mercedes-Benz; the city of The Hague; fair for luxury label, SeeMe; Italian fashion fair organizer, Pitti Imagine; as well as French department store chain, Galeries Lafayette and the exclusive Tranoi Fair in Paris.

Since its foundation in 2001 the Dutch Fashion Foundation (DFF) positions Dutch fashion on a national and international level by the creation of innovative, high quality services through which the cultural and economic values of fashion can meet and strengthen each other.
