Lexus Has Unveiled Its 2013 GS 450h Hybrid Sedan

Lexus, a luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Toyota, has unveiled its 2013 GS 450h hybrid sedan with an improved performance and handling.

The new GS 450 hybrid is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine featuring a new D-4S direct and port fuel injection system and will be mated to a permanent magnet electric motor driven by a nickel-metal hydride battery pack.

According to the carmaker, the new hybrid will generate a combined output of 338hp, while offering a combined 31mpg.

The cooling performance of the hybrid system's Power Control Unit (PCU) will assist in reducing fuel consumption, which has been improved through the deployment of dual cooling paths and an integrated DC/DC converter, Lexus said.

The GS 450h will also come with five driving modes that include Normal, ECO, EV, SPORT S and SPORT S+ modes, which will allow the driver to customize the driving experience through new Lexus Drive Mode selector.

Features of the new hybrid sedan include vehicle dynamics integrated management (VDIM), anti-lock braking system, brake assist (BA), vehicle stability control (VSC) and traction control (TRAC).

The new sedan's security features include ten airbags, whiplash injury lessening front seats, night vision system, heads up display, blind spot monitor and lane keep assist (LKA) with lane departure warning (LDW).
