BioDrain Medical Will Install 20 Streamway Fluid Drain Systems in US

BioDrain Medical will install 20 Streamway surgical waste fluid management systems in ambulatory surgical centers (ASC) across seven states in the US.

BioDrain develops Streamway, an automated, direct-to-drain surgical fluid disposal system. The stationary system is installed in surgical rooms and connected into a hospital's existing drain and vacuum system.

According to BioDrain, Streamway limits operating room workers' exposure to blood, irrigation fluid and other infectious fluids as well as decreases surgical waste disposal costs to hospitals.

The current installations are being made under an agreement with an undisclosed organization involved in creating physician-owned and operated ASCs in partnership with local surgeons.

According to BioDrain, the partner organization plans to extend the installations for all its facilities.

The installation of the automated systems has been started and is expected to complete by the end of 2013.

BioDrain Medical CEO Josh Kornberg said that the agreement with the partner organization for the initial installation of 20 Streamway System units is a great way for the company to further penetrate the ambulatory surgery network throughout the US.

"We are now able to expose surgical centers across the United States to our best-in-class solution, the STREAMWAY System, in a more efficient and widespread manner," Kornberg added.
