The CEOs of Europe' S Big Three Semiconductor Companies Are Optimistic About 2013

The CEOs of Europe’s Big Three semiconductor companies are optimistic about 2013.

Each, at their earnings calls, said they expected a better end to the year than the beginning. There seems to be a commonly shared belief that Q1 will be the bottom of the cycle and that the year will unfold well.

Clearly, we believe that with the current economic environment as well as the seasonal patterns Q1 represents the bottom of the semiconductor cycle for us," said Rick Clemmer, CEO of NXP, "and we expect to see good growth beyond Q1."

European Semi Ceos See Improving 2013."As long as the global economy does not stall, business should continue to pickup as expected," said Dr Reinhard Ploss, CEO of Infineon.

"We are seeing some positive signs including improved bookings in January on several product lines that may be early indicators of a recovery ahead at some point in 2013," said Carlo Bozotti, CEO of STMicroelectronics, "we anticipate a better than normal seasonality. Globally there are a number of signs that 2013 may show an improving economic environment as the year advances."
