Russia has extended its food imports ban to Albania, Montenegro, Liechtenstein and Iceland in response to Western sanctions over the Ukraine crisis.
The country already banned food imports from the US, Canada, Norway, Australia and 28 member states of the European Union until next August.
The ban covers meat, fish, dairy products, fruits and vegetables.
Rossiya 24 quoted Russia Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev as saying that the country's agriculture has witnessed boost because of the move and did not face shortages.
As reported in Reuters, the former Soviet republic has refused to support an extension of the Western sanctions against Moscow.
During a government meeting, Medvedev said that Moscow would only ban certain food imports from Ukraine from 2016 if an economic association agreement between Kiev and the European Union came into force.
"We agreed to give (Ukraine) extra time - until Jan. 1 of next year - for decisions on questions over economic regulation," Medvedev added.
Recently, Russia destroyed Western food products that have been imported breaching counter sanctions imposed by the country in response to sanctions imposed by West over Ukraine crisis.
