Winter-time collections will play a prominent role at the sixty-ninth edition of SIMM, the Madrid International Fashion Fair, to be staged from 8th to 10th February in Halls 12 and 14 in the DC Area at Feria de Madrid.
This fair, which is considered to be one of the key points of reference for the clothing industry in Spain and one of the most important events of its kind in Europe, will bring together a wide range of the latest trends for Autumn-Winter at its next edition. These collections will be presented by more than five hundred participating brands, including the leading Spanish firms and a selection of the most important international brands.
Among the companies specializing in winter clothing that have confirmed their participation at the February 2013 edition of SIMM, we might mention the Italian firm, Eskey, the French firm, El Internationale-Dellalui, and the Spanish labels, Mazur, Julianea, Creaciones Arteserie and G 54 Staats, among others. These collections provide a good example of how the industry has developed with regard to winter clothing, both in terms of design and with regard to manufacturing and materials.
These brands will be complemented by a series of leading leather and fur fashion companies, who will present their latest ideas at SIMM. These firms will include Cortty Benett, J&M, Goes, Guy Laroche Furs, Araujo, Lang's Furby Groenlandia and Makaryo Ferry Urban, among others.
As is customary, the fair's exhibition will be organised according to sector, based on the type and style of the collections they are presenting. In this respect, Charm will bring together a series of urban and practical designs; Class will feature a range of contemporary basics; Gala will focus on cocktail attire, evening-wear and ceremonial clothing ideas; Shop will present a range of services for promoting innovation at points of sale; Ready will include a series of inter-seasonal fashion ideas; and Touch will present fashion accessories. Furthermore, EGO, will introduce us to the collections of a number of new designers.
As is customary, SIMM's comprehensive trade showcase for the clothing industry will be complemented by an outstanding selection of international brands from the medium-high clothing fashion category, who will take part in the IFEMA Fashion Showrooms at the North Convention Centre at Feria de Madrid.
Furthermore, in the same way as at recent editions of the fair, the trade activity at the next edition of SIMM will be complemented by an interesting Programme of Specialized Conferences in the section known as the Speaker's Corner Forum.
In effect, a number of leading experts in fashion retailing and specialists in fashion trends, marketing and communication, will share their know-how in their respective fields with trade visitors attending the fair.
Thus, over a period of three days, buyers will have the opportunity to receive expert guidance regarding the following aspects: the latest opportunities for independent retailers; the latest in experiential marketing and digital technology for the retail trade; and the latest market analysis presented by a number of highly-qualified experts.
This Forum will be located alongside the stands at the fair in the Connecting Area between Halls 12 and 14. At previous editions, all of the events and conferences staged in this area were warmly welcomed by the professionals attending the fair.
Throughout its duration, SIMM will be open from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm, except for the last day of the fair when the timetable shall be 9.30 am to 6.00 pm.
A Joint Event in September 2013
The February 2013 edition of the fair will be the last that SIMM stages on its own. In this respect, its next edition in September 2013 will be held jointly with MODACALZADO+IBERPIEL, the International Footwear and Leather Goods Fair, as part of a new project that seeks to boost the event's competitiveness and appeal vis-à-vis buyers and Spanish and foreign companies operating within a new trading context worldwide.
In short, the trend in recent years has been to offer clothing items and footwear in the same establishment, making up what is known as a total look. This is one of the main reasons that have led IFEMA to set up this new joint fair project.
