FSAI Has Published The Second Round of The Food Industry's Own Tests

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has published the second round of the food industry’s own tests, which were carried out over the last three weeks. The tests revealed that a total of three samples contained horsemeat.

A total of 1,228 samples of beef products and ingredients were tested. While 1,225 samples were found to contain no horsemeat, three samples representing two products contained horsemeat.

The two affected products were Tesco Simple Roast Meatloaf, which was found to contain up to 5.2% horsemeat, and Oak Farm Cottage Pie 350g which had up to 5% horsemeat.

However, FSAI noted that the positive results have been published previously and the products are no longer available on the shelves.

The testing was conducted on beef meat ingredients and final beef products and samples were sourced from suppliers, caterers, processors, manufacturers and retailers.

The companies that have submitted the test results include Cow & Gate, ABP Ireland, Tesco, Dawn Farm Foods, Dunnes Stores, Musgraves, Liffey Meats, Green Isle Foods, Rangeland, HJ Heinz, Keystone Manufacturing Ireland and Convenience Foods.
