German carmaker Audi is planning to unveil the 2014 R8 sports car at the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit,US,to be held during 14-27 January 2013.
The new sports car is offered with three powertrain options including V8 4.2 FSI,V10 5.2 FSI and the new V10 Plus 5.2 FSI,which can either be mated to a seven-speed S tronic double-clutch transmission or a gated 6-speed manual transmission.
R8's new V10 Plus engine,which tops the model line up,will generate an output of 550hp and 398lbft of torque,while it is expected to sprint from zero to 60mph in 3.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of about 196mph.
According to the carmaker,top model R8 weighs about 100lbs less compared to the V10,over the use of carbon fiber side blades,front splitter,rear diffuser,spoiler,smaller fuel tank,manual Alcantara seats and ceramic brakes.
The Audi R8 with V10 engine will generate an output of 525hp and 391lbft of torque,while accelerates from zero to 60mph in about 3.4 seconds achieving a top speed of 195mph.
Basic model R8 is powered by V8 FSI engine that produces 430hp and 317lbft of torque,while is expected to sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds as well as reach a top speed of about 186mph.
Audi is also planning to unveil the 4.2 FSI engine powered 2014 RS 5 Cabriolet at the show.
