The interior of the BMW X4 has been spied, giving us our first look inside the German manufacturer’s forthcoming mid-sized SUV.
Though black fabric obscures some of the dashboard and centre stack switchgear, it’s clear the coupe-inspired crossover’s cabin will largely mirror that of the BMW X3 on which it’s based.
Like its donor car, the BMW X4 features a large recessed central display screen, contoured dashboard and a clean instrument cluster. Subtle differences between the spied X4 test car and the X3 are expected to transition to the latter when it is updated in 2014.
CarAdvice’s spy photographers also snapped the X4 alongside the X3 while out on test in Germany, highlighting the similarities between the mid-sized duo and the larger X5/X6 siblings.
The images of the vehicles side by side emphasise the X4’s sleek, coupe-style lines, particularly its heavily raked roofline and tailgate, protruding ducktail boot and slightly longer rear overhang.
BMW unveiled the X4 concept in Shanghai in April. The production version will debut in 2014 and is destined to reach Australian showrooms in the second half of the year, where it will be priced slightly higher than the X3.
