Mogilevkhimvolokno, part of the state run Belarus chemical company Belneftekhim, will import paraxylene (PX) from Kazakhstan to manufacture polyester fibre, Belneftekhim has announced.
Last month, a joint proposal was signed between Belarus and Kazakhstan for construction of a new US$ 300 million pure terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in the Mogilevkhimvolokno scheme, which will be supplied with Kazakh paraxylene. Around 50 percent of the expected annual polyester fibre production of 600,000 tonnes by Mogilevkhimvolokno will be exported to other countries.
