Walter Energy Announced That It Does Not Expect CO2 Emission Limits Regulations

US-based coal producer Walter Energy has announced that it does not expect CO2 emission limits regulations for existing power plants issued by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to have any material impact on Walter Energy, since the company "primarily mines and sells metallurgical grades of coal that are used in making steel, not generating electricity". Approximately 95 percent of the company's coal-related revenues come from the export of metallurgical coal.

EPA rules are aimed at cutting carbon emission from the power industry by 30 percent nationwide by 2030, compared to 2005 levels, which is equal to the emissions from powering more than half the homes in the US for one year.
