Ukraine's government has increased its quota on imports of coking coal used for steelmaking, by one million mt from the previous level to 11.2 million mt, according to decree No. 792.
Also, according to the decree, Ukraine's quota on imports of metalurgical coke in 2013 has increased by 90,000 mt to 300,000 mt.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, is going to apply for an additional quota for import of coke in 2013.
Meanwhile, as of November 1, importers of coking and bituminous coal to Ukraine used 84.89 percent of their annual quota. Of the total quota of 11.2 million mt for the current year, the unused quota volume is 1.692 million mt.
As of August 1, importers of coking and bituminous coal to Ukraine had used 39.1 percent of their annual quota.
