Gerber Products, an operating unit of Nestle group, has introduced Gerber Good Start Soothe formula with probiotic L reuteri. The formula is designed to reduce excessive crying and colic in healthy infants.
The Soothe variety contains Comfort Proteins Advantage, which makes digestion easy for baby. It contains a carbohydrate blend with 30% lactose for fussiness and gas in infants with lactose intolerance, claims the company.
Gerber Products also plans to launch Gerber Soothe Colic Relief Drops with L reuteri later this year, as part of an agreement between Nestle/Gerber and BioGaia, a Swedish innovative healthcare company specializing in probiotics.
The arrangement allows Gerber to exclusively distribute these probiotic drops in the US.
Nestle Infant Nutrition marketing head Rick Klauser said that Gerber will provide colic relief options for both breastfeeding and formula feeding moms with company's Gerber Good Start Soothe infant formula and Gerber Soothe Colic Relief Drops.
Gerber Good Start is also available nationwide in 'Protect' and 'Gentle' varieties. The Protect Formula has the probiotic B lactis to help strengthen a healthy immune system. The Gentle Formula is inspired by breastmilk.
All Gerber Good Start milk-based formulas are routine infant formulas made with 100% whey protein that has been partially hydrolyzed.
