Moldavian Metallurgical Works (MMZ), a steelmaker based in the Transnistrian region of Moldova, has announced that it restarted production on August 5, after a stoppage of over six months.
MMZ had stopped production and shipments in January this year due to the increase in company income tax which affected the competitiveness of its finished steel product prices.
In August this year, the company plans to produce 34,188 mt of crude steel and 30,648 mt of rolled steel, including 15,940 mt of wire rod and 14,708 mt of rebar.
The company plans to achieve its targeted output gradually, aiming to produce around 70,000-75,000 mt of rolled steel per month.
