Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor (TMC) has unveiled the new 2013 Avalon sedan in both gasoline and hybrid variants.
The gasoline variant of Avalon sedan will be powered by a 3.5 litre DOHC V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transaxle and produce an output of 268hp and 248 lb-ft of torque.
According to the carmaker, the new sedan can accelerate from 0-60 mph within 7 seconds and offer an EPA-rating of 25 mpg combined.
The new sedan will also feature ECO, NORMAL, and SPORT Modes which offer performance according to the selected modes.
The company incorporated flex-start control feature lock-up clutch which will enhance transmission operation and is kept at normal temperature with an automatic-transmission fluid warmer, helping enhance efficiency.
Toyota's 2013 Avalon hybrid sedan will be powered by a 2.5-litre, Atkinson-cycle, four-cylinder engine, a 244.8-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack and a pair of electric motor/generators in the transaxle which will offer a total system output of 200hp.
The Avalon Hybrid offers three modes of operation including EV, ECO and SPORT as well as offers a combined 40 mpg EPA-rating.
According to the company, the 2013 Avalon will be assembled at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) facility in Georgetown, US.
