Volkswagen Will Drop The Pact with The German Truckmaker Daimler

German carmaker Volkswagen is planning to terminate the contract with the German truckmaker Daimler that was supposed to lapse by 2016, under which the crafter van is built by the later.

According to a report from Reuters, the company by itself has begun to make a follow-up model of the Crafter van that was built by the Daimler.

Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piech had previously said that he would favor truckmaker MAN over Daimler as van alliance partner.

In 2012, Daimler and Nissan had made an exchange deal regarding the Fuso Canter light truck built by the Mitsubishi Fuso to be supplied the to Nissan in exchange of the Atlas F24 truck by Daimler's Japanese truck unit.
